How to change audio pitch online

03

Download the result

Export the pitch-shifted audio as MP3 or WAV — rendered at high quality on your device.

Does changing pitch also change the speed?

No. This tool uses the SoundTouch engine to shift pitch while keeping the tempo exactly the same. A voice at +3 semitones still speaks at the original pace — it just sounds higher.

What is a semitone?

A semitone is the smallest step in standard Western music — one piano key up or down. Twelve semitones make one octave. Shifting by +3 semitones takes C to E♭, for example. The key wheel below the slider shows you exactly where you land.

What's the key wheel for?

If you know a song is in C major and want to transpose it to G major, you can count the semitones (7 up) or just click G on the wheel. It makes musical transpositions intuitive without having to think in numbers.

How much can I shift before it sounds unnatural?

±5 semitones is generally the range where results sound clean. Beyond that, voices and instruments start to show some artefacts — the same limit applies to all pitch-shifting tools. For extreme effects (an octave up or down), the result is audibly processed, which can be intentional for creative work.

Can I use this to tune a recording?

Yes. If a recording is slightly flat or sharp, shifting by 1 semitone (or even fractional values via the slider at fine resolution) brings it in line. For professional pitch correction of individual notes, a dedicated tool like Melodyne is more precise — but for whole-file transposition this works very well.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, pitch-shifting and encoding all happen locally in your browser using the Web Audio API and SoundTouch. Your audio never leaves your device.
