What does reversing audio do?
It plays the sound backwards — the last moment becomes the first. Speech turns into unfamiliar, garbled sounds, drums and cymbals get that distinctive "swell-then-hit" reverse shape, and reverbs bloom backwards into a note. It's a staple effect in music production and sound design.
Why do people reverse audio?
Producers create reverse cymbals, reversed vocals, and swelling intros. Sound designers build risers and transitions. Curious listeners check songs for "backmasking" (hidden messages). And reversing something twice returns it to normal, which is handy for testing.
Does reversing reduce quality?
No. Reversing simply plays the existing samples in the opposite order — nothing is lost. If you export to WAV the result is identical quality to the source; MP3 export adds only the normal, minor compression of the MP3 format.
